A centuries-old former hospital in Bloemendaal, with four-metre-high ceilings and a bespoke spiral staircase. Choc Studio designed a complete interior for the shell building, from concept to the final choice of materials. “Rooms this large and this high call for equally large gestures.” – Julia de Jong

A listed building from 1885 in the centre of Haarlem. Choc Studio brought calm and unity with dark wood and warm tones. “Blue has a strong presence in this design, but it never dominates. It shows that colour can be used in an interior without taking away from a calm overall feel.” – Julia de Jong

A new-build townhouse in the centre of Utrecht, five storeys high with a city garden. Choc Studio furnished the house in a modern chic style, from basement to attic. “We used a great deal of bespoke work throughout this interior. It opens up so many more creative possibilities.” – Robbert Maarsen

A 1930s house in Haarlem, extended with an addition for extra space. “Our starting point was an interior where it is pleasant to live with several people, without it feeling crowded. Well-fitted furniture, often bespoke, combined with warm, soft colours, was the key to a pleasant, spacious-looking interior.” – Choc Studio

A fully restored townhouse in Haarlem, where the interior had not yet caught up with the renewed structure of the building, until Choc Studio brought character and warmth with a series of targeted changes. “Dare. Do not be afraid to play with bolder tones and materials. It gives an interior strength and tension.” – Julia de Jong

A listed country house on an estate near Haarlem, split into three homes and fully restored twenty years ago. The owners chose a new interior, moving from a classic castle style towards a lighter, contemporary look. “The house is a wonderful foundation to design from. Classic and modern elements come together beautifully here.” – Choc Studio

A modern villa near Amsterdam, with plenty of glass and daylight. Choc Studio designed a dark, chic interior, with gold as a recurring element throughout the house.
“The colour gold gives this modern house a luxurious look and feel. The golden glow of the Tom Dixon lamps in the kitchen casts a fairy-tale light that can be seen from the street. A beautiful beacon when you come home in the dark.” – Julia de Jong

A detached house in Soest, built in a modern farmhouse style. For a full refurbishment, Choc Studio included every room in the design, from the living room to the bar in the basement. This project followed Choc Studio’s usual way of working too. “In our studio, we welcome clients to discuss the possibilities for a project in detail. Here they can not only see materials and products, but also feel and try them out.” – Choc Studio

A listed townhouse in Haarlem from 1893, with well-preserved details. Choc Studio started with the basics, giving the woodwork, floors and walls a soft colour palette, before rebuilding the interior from there. “When people do everything themselves, they often order a bit here and a bit there, and once it all comes together it quickly turns into a muddle. Keeping the overview and working out the bigger picture is a craft in itself.” – Robbert Maarsen

A detached new-build home, architect-designed for a family with children. Choc Studio designed the entire interior, from the ground floor right up to the spacious attic space.
“It is genuinely difficult to picture the scale of a room from a floor plan alone. That is why we always work in 3D and involve the client in thinking through the different possibilities.” – Choc Studio

A new-build villa in Amstelveen, where Choc Studio was involved well before construction began. Choc Studio started with a lighting plan, before any discussion of furniture or materials.”With new-build projects, we decide on lighting as early as possible, before any other interior products are chosen. A pied-à-terre in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid, furnished for weekday use. Choc Studio combined a hotel atmosphere with Asian accents, from the calm seating area and the Italian kitchen to the bathroom finished in tadelakt. “It has become an introverted apartment. Genuinely a place to retreat to after a hard day’s work, and to recharge for the next working day.” – Julia de Jong

An apartment in the centre of Amsterdam with a black interior and gold accents. Choc Studio helped the owner take the final step, from a country-style base to a sleek, dark look.

A new-build country house, lived in shortly after completion but still without a cohesive interior. Choc Studio designed a complete furniture plan, from the living room to the master bedroom. “The house is surrounded by greenery. We brought that colour subtly into the interior through soft grey-green tones on the walls. It brings the inside and outside closer together.” – Choc Studio

A new-build villa on the edge of the dunes, with a lighting, colour, material and furniture plan fully developed in 3D. The result is a family-friendly home with practical comfort and a calm, cohesive feel. “The round rug beneath the armchairs links the seating area with the open fireplace. The tall bespoke cabinets by the fireplace create a kind of gentleman’s study feel.” – Julia de Jong
