Interior design in the Haarlem area: warmth and balance in a heritage home
The owners of a monumental house from 1885 were looking for more balance in their home. Choc Studio created cohesion through dark wood, warm tones and a striking dark blue accent. Rugs, soft fabrics and an ethanol fireplace by the custom dining table add comfort and atmosphere. In addition to the ground floor, the master bedroom, study, teenagers’ rooms and bathroom upstairs were all included in the design.
The question: how do you create balance and warmth in a heritage home with many different rooms?
The owners wanted not just a renovation, but a home that felt more harmonious and pleasant to live in. How do you bring unity to a large house with multiple rooms and historic details, while adding warmth and comfort without losing its character?
The solution: cohesion through colour, material and bespoke design
Choc Studio developed an interior where dark woods and warm tones provide calm and unity. A dark blue accent adds strength and contrast. Rugs and rich fabrics make the spaces inviting, while an ethanol fireplace at the dining table enhances the atmosphere. All floors were included in the design: from the living spaces downstairs to the master bedroom, study and teenagers’ rooms upstairs.
The result: a heritage home with warmth and harmony
The home is furnished with furniture by Meridiani, Marac and the Pure Choc line. Wallpapers by Inkiostro Bianco, Arte and Casamance and fabrics by Marc Alexander, Zinc and Villa Nova enhance the warm atmosphere. Rugs by Limited Edition and an ethanol fireplace by Planika Fires complete the look. Lighting by Layer by Adje, Marset and Contardi provides the right balance of light and atmosphere.
